Dreamology Poem by Sandra Feldman

Dreamology

The Mystery of Poetry,
Attraction to Dreamology,
To quit the World,
Such as it is,
In Words of Mist, that do persist
To hide the pain of everyday,
And say that Life,
Is not in vain,
That let you dream,
Even on land,
That oceans really are at hand,
That make you think that Love is True,
And that the Sea is really blue.

There has always been a connection between poems and dreams. Some have claimed the origin of poems lies in dreams, both the unconscious and conscious kinds. I believe so. But you set yourself a task in this short poem to make that connection convincing. The last two lines do so cleverly: we know the sea is blue, so by extension love must be true. But we speak Words of Mist, and that makes poems and dreams transient, but just as we know there are oceans even when we live on land, we know there are dreams coming true all the time!

So very true. Dreams are what keep hope alive and what better way than poetry to express them and dream through and from them. :) A 10 my friend.
