(for Abdelhaq Djellab's 'Landscape, ' posted April 15)
... ... ... ... ...
The quiet excitation of colors is juicy and tremulous...
all the shapes are jostling to be part of the scene...
their patchwork assortment is a neighborhood happening...
in the time-frame of strolling into a grove, it is enduring...
the way they set each other off gives a sense of rightness...
they hang together, but also crumble… even so,
I have confidence that wonderment is just around the corner...
thus I can relinquish colors and shapes that belong together...
to join in the onward tumble, without a sense of precarity
