Doomed Poem by Shane Markie

Doomed

My neighborhood is full of hungry birds.

Blue jays
Cardinals
Meadowlarks
Magpies
Meadowlarks
Sparrows
Starlings...

and don't forget the crows.

For sustainence, the feast upon my exposed flesh.

Circling overhead, they swoop to nibble undisturbed
Pecking nimbly at unmoving fingers
And my missing toes.
