Don’t Waste Time Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Don’t Waste Time

We all have need to pay our dues
We owe The Lord above
Yet some in truth will still abuse
The time He gives in love

All time’s a gift the Father gives-
Each child to spend as planned
The span through which a servant lives
Is in the Master’s hand

Time each day from God we borrow
Serving Him just pays the rent
Now which of us can claim tomorrow?
When today has been misspent

Those who truly Christ have tasted
Whether old or in our prime
Know too well that nought is wasted
Be it love or be it time

To even Christ time was handed
Three and thirty years was lent
Three of which as God commanded Mal.3: 8-10
Gave He freely ten percent

Three years serving God Jehovah Jn.17: 4
Healing, teaching through this time
Soon on earth His life was over
Christ was taken in His prime

Thus God’s time we need to treasure
He who died knows what it cost
God gives each an unknown measure
Once it’s spent forever lost

Who can count on their tomorrow?
Who yet bothers time to pray?
Not for them eternal sorrow
Who to God gives their today.
