Don’t Give Up Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Don’t Give Up

The man of God sat on his own
He prayed beneath a tree
“Oh Lord my God, I’m all alone
There’s no-one left but me”

God heard and felt His servant’s pain
In answer to his cry
Said, “Seven thousand yet remain
You have no need to die

Now hear these words I speak to you
Return the way you came
I have some work that you can do
To glorify my name”

God’s servant then was unafraid
He did as God had planned
On us today God’s hand is laid
We too must understand

No Jezebel can hold us down
Or keep us from our goal
We’ll go in Christ, from town to town
To free a lost child’s soul

No devil’s work, can undermine
Nor hinder Jesus’ seed
For those who drink Salvation’s wine
Are truly free indeed

We can’t afford to sit around
The bible makes it plain
God’s sheep must all be safe and sound
For Christ to come again

But soon the last will be inside
We’ll hear the Master shout
We’ll change to be His lovely bride
Of this have no-more doubt.
