Domestic Violence Poem by David Boyce

Domestic Violence

Rating: 5.0

You beat me up for no reason,
You beat me black and blue,
I ask you why you do this,
But even you're not sure.

You beat me full of bruises,
But they are always out of sight,
You beat me when you're drinking,
So it could be any day or night.

These bruises are all purple,
Before going orange and brown.
These are hidden by my clothing,
When you hit me whilst being down.

When you sober up you say you don't remember,
All the things you did to me,
But when I show you all the injuries,
It's quite clear for you to see.

I loved you when we first met,
But this violence is a drag,
No woman should have to go through this,
Just leave now, I've already packed your bag!
