that's what many people have been told by those in the know
those who have immersed others
in water
in blood
in tears
produced pain unimaginable
a crisis of baptism that resonates and destroys the soul
when it was meant to replenish
salt rubbed in a wound created with the instruments released from a lacquered box
decorated with intricate designs in gold filigree
surrounded by the color of royalty
hallelujah they say
you have been saved
you can now mend your wicked ways
by adopting ours
war
pestilence
disease
hunger
we bring all this to you in love
and don't worry about the blood that stains our teeth
it is only a sign of our trust and loyalty to the improvement of mankind
