Do You Know Your Credit Score Poem by Cathleen Hodgkinson

Do You Know Your Credit Score

Rating: 5.0

We've all lived beyond our means...
'They' are relentless and made it impossible to ignore...
When all we're asked over and over these days...
Do you know your credit score?

Overdraft fees...Late charges...Finance charges...Cancellation threats...
Missed payments...Promises to pay...Collection calls galore...
Not a penny left over after monthly payments have barely been met.

We're overextended... We're overlimit...A fact we can't abhor.
We're resolved to buying groceries with a credit card.
Something we never had to do before.

Lines of Credit... Balance transfers...Reverse mortgages, there's more.
A variable rate that demands each month...'you've not paid enough,
we must take more'.

Forclosure Notices...Sleepless nights...Self medicating in panic...
Refinance for a quick debt fix...Robbing Peter to pay Paul...
Pay attention to the due date...These three digits are making us manic!

Through the media...Through the internet...One simple click...
Human greed from all ends determines who we are...a vicious cycle...
Did we score high or score too low? ...Are we an asset or a risk?

Trying to make ends meet....one paycheck from being poor...
Someone out there amplified this concept...made it a terror tactic...
All that matters now...Do you know your credit score?

Well, first I had to know my Body Mass Index, and now this...The reduction of our value as humans to statistical measures...Care to know how much I can bench press? Don

Ouch! Nice and vivid picture captured here, Cathleen. I like what you've said as well. Living today has made everyone aware about what is essential and how that is valued.
