Do What Davy Does Poem by Tom Fox

Do What Davy Does

Rating: 5.0

Do what Davy does. Hey!
Do what Davy does. Hey!

When you wake up in the morning, you should do what Davy does.
He stretches for a while. Then he turns his head and yawns.
He rolls right out of bed. Then he fixes up his bed.
He looks into the mirror and this is what he says,

“I’ll make today the greatest day that ever ever was.
I’ll be sure to smile and I’ll give lots of hugs.
I’ll be nice and friendly to everyone because
you get just what you give and we all deserve some love.” So,

do what Davy does. Hey!
Do what Davy does. Hey!

Later in the day you may just wander ‘round the city,
lookin’ for some friends of yours to play with and be giddy.
If they can’t play then that’s ok. There’s other things to do
like write a story, draw a pony or try something new.
With every day that comes your way give your best and nothing less.
Just do what you do. Do what is good
and remember what Davy says.

Hey!

At night you might just feel like it’s time to get some rest now.
You’ve been awake, for goodness sake, a great part of the day now.
Here’s your chance to sing and dance inside your little dreams.
Don’t be scared of nightmares. They are not what they seem.
Be thankful for all of your family and friends.
You’ve had your fun. Now you’re done
and you did what Davy said.

“You made today the greatest day that ever ever was.
You were sure to smile and you gave lots of hugs.
You were nice and friendly to everyone because
you get just what you give and we all deserve some love.” So,

You did what Davy does. Hey!
You did what Davy does. Hey!
