Discovery Poem by Deidre Dixon

Discovery

So you want to know what my love language is
I say, it's for me to know and discovery is your biz

It's up to you find out what it is that makes me tick
Not for full disclosure where I give you the blueprint

I'm not about to tell you everything that I like
So you can do everything you need to, then strike

You need to appreciate that I am a rare and valuable gem
You'll have to go on an archaeological dig to find them

You see, when you really want to gain the ultimate treasure
Things like patience and pursuit will be your ultimate pleasure

Spending quality time, watching me in action and listening to what I say
You will see in plenty time that you will learn my love language that way

Please understand that getting to know me is going to take time
I do not frivolously give away any jewel of mine

I want to know that you are genuinely interested in a relationship with me
And that you are not hunting to catch and conquer what it is that you see

I also need time to discover what your love language is too
It is important to me that I am properly caring for you

The precious time in pursuit of love will help us to discover
What we really wanted to know all along, the love language of each other
