Different To Mine Poem by Francis Duggan

Different To Mine

On few things at all we do seem to agree
The heroes to you are not heroes to me
My heroes not aggressive in any sort of a way
They do good deeds for others without asking for pay
Your heroes are wealthy and famous and brave
And legends to you do not die in their grave
And though by their acts of kindness by good example they lead
My heroes to you seem quite ordinary indeed
But in having said that it does seem fair to say
That we all look at life and people in a different way
What seems ordinary to you to me does seem great
Quite a different sort of a person we choose to celebrate
We look at things differently that suits me fine
And your heroes one can say are different to mine.
