Diamond Lost At Sea Poem by Franchesca Mia Tortoza

Diamond Lost At Sea

I used to think I'd always have you
That you'd always be right here in my hands,
That I'd never lose your sparkle of blue,
But now, you are gone—lost in the sand.

I had been laying on the shore
Gazing up soulfully at the dark night sky,
But when I turned, I had you no more,
And in my pain, my heart and soul did cry.

Sometimes I feel like the whole world knows,
What my crime was—for you, I carelessly did lose
Wherever I go, everyone else sings and goes,
'What you lost will never rise from the sea of blues.'

And I know that no matter how much I wail,
I know that what I tossed into the ocean will never return to me.
And even if the all the seven oceans I sail,
I'll never see you again—my precious diamond that I lost at sea.
