Denial Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Denial

O Mother!
I’m adolescent
Formative time
Growing up years
Fostering
A vision of mine.

O Mother!
Owing
To attitude
Of thine and
Passage of time
I’m convinced
Thou’st
Love me not
That’s final
Strongly
I confirm
Not in a bout
Bout of cry
Or a fit
Fit of anger
But, I realize
All in its
Seriousness
As a girl-child.

O mother!
Cynically
Looking at?
Look not
The way thee
Mistake not
Me for a revolt.

O mother!
Though
Thou’st
Not the real
However
Half-smile
On thy lips
As response
Certainly
A severe aghast!
Adding
Fuel to the fire.

O mother!
Amazingly
Besides
My mates
Everyone
Be conscious
That thou’st
Held me not
Or ever loved
Or hugged
I’m grossly
Left out
Unloved
Never even
I experienced
Sitting in thy lap
Thy acts
In witness
Thereby speak.

O mother!
As I see
My sole vision
Of living-
Living this life
To its fullest
Being blurred-
Blurred by
Flood of tears
And voice choked
Choked with
Storm of emotions.
