Deflating Poem by April Michelle Wolverton

Deflating

Tremble...
only to reveal
that everything is so perfectly hidden...
and so wonderfully covered
by shadows of desperation...
my own lack of inspiration...
The air, crisp with
open paradox and the scent of
dying-dead-decay
reveals...
nothing.
I want to become devoured by the earth's
humble crust.
To feel the seeds moving freely
through my pores...
To become endowed with mud and ore...
dust and bottomless pits
to feed the spirit inside.
I need to dive into the throat
of something truly living...
but only to reveal
absolutely nothing.
