December Has Romanced Me Once Again Poem by Ella Rose

December Has Romanced Me Once Again

Rating: 2.5

Somewhere after fall but before the Spring,
The white mist of snow whispers in my ear,
Such delicate words I have heard from all the de-leaved branches,
Streak in the cloudy skies,
-has romanced me once again.

For December has arrived,
He has brought the unveiling cold,
All the magnificent pine trees,
Wearing snow capped blankets,
Little green with a great deal of white,
I recall being a diminutive child,
Staring out from that solid wood bay window,
In amazement at how the snow could be so opulent.
I see those reflecting prisms,
Like a rainbow under the moon,
All the surrounding light flashes,
For the icicles have found their way back,
Frozen water, so acute and piercing,
Above our front porch door,
Please don't knock them off,
They tell me they're dangerous,
But to me they are just what I needed,
-that time in my life.

It's time is decorate for the spirit of the season,
Red and green, maybe with a little bit of gold,
Tall pine trees in our homes,
Full of exquisite memories of growing up.
And then comes the last day on the 31st,
Time to ring in the New Year with family,
And we cheer for all the promises of resolutions,
No matter how cold it gets,
These memories will keep me warm.

And as I sit by that solid wood bay window,
I am amazed at how the snow could be so opulent,
The streak in the cloudy skies,
-has romanced me once again.
