Death Can Give Solace Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Death Can Give Solace

I am ditched by my own people
completely torn and devastated
by them
for whom I toiled selflessly
my entire life.
Now I am old and shattered,
a lone wanderer
in the vast world of
selfishness and greed
and thrown to the dust bin
by the tormentors
my own kith and kins
friends and relatives,
my heart ruptures.

The dark shadow of death
is engulfing my entity
I feel it coming in gentle footsteps
amidst the chiming of birds
in the twilight hour,
I hear the clear knock of the devils
resounding in my ears deep.
The dead grass and the grey sky
sing the last sonnet
to take me to the
dreadful depths unknown.
Now I know
only death can give me solace
and the eternal peace.
