Dating Of The Atomic Age Poem by Daya Nandan

Dating Of The Atomic Age

Rating: 5.0

Dating of the modern era is a different playing field,
Where people are filled with fear and holding up their shield,
Fear of betrayal and being broken apart,
When everybody has felt the pain of a broken heart,

It is true that dating has gotten easier than ever,
To the point that some have pushed away commitment forever,
No one wants to put in effort to build their partner,
Nobody wants to help broken love recover,

Everybody has become replaceable and taken for granted,
Replaced by apps as powerful as spells that are enchanted,
Why put in effort to fix problems that linger?
When you can get a new date with the swipe of a finger.

People are taking each other for granted,
Giving up on the stable relationships that they have planted,
Often they forget to water the growing plant of love,
Without realizing that sometimes others are watering it from above,

Loyalty, trust and honor have become rare qualities now,
In a world where only few people will commit to their vow,
Tinder and many dating apps now rule the dating game,
Yet we find so many other excuses to blame,

In a selfish world where hedonism is a way of life,
Where people back stab each other with a sharpened knife,
Dating in the atomic age is truly a different game,
And that is why older couples look at our generation in shame,
