Dark Matter Poem by Nan Williamson

Dark Matter

dark matter

I wanted to stay but
whispering lines from Solomon's
song is a bad plan at one
in the morning after a Tarantino film

to make matters worse
your insouciant smile
betrays eyes
looking for rescue

I wanted to stay but
dark matter sends out no light
the sky's not bright enough here
outside muffled bells toll
in the smothering fog

if you want a lover
maybe give her tea honey violets
watch fireflies winking in the night window
leave the door open for the moon
