Dark Maids Poem by Ganesh Veeraraghavan

Dark Maids

Why descends the dark night
Does she ease us to some well earned rest....

Why dances the sword of fear
Does she challenge courage our armor

Why some visits of crushing dissapointment
Does she ask us to seek His appointment

Why sadness burns her fire
Does she our put our hearts to temper

Why loneliness brings along melancholy
Does she open our selves for study

Why lust defeats with her power of flesh
Does she challenge us to rise in conquest

Why hunger throws us in pangs painful
Does she ask for our hands on the wheel

Why pains the burden of suffering
Does she ask us to do some soul searching

Why selfishness enslaves us to her tethers
Let's free ourselves seeing the saints...

Why she strikes us with her final bell
She sweeps the air of breath become stale

Who paints these dark maids on the canvas
He paints too the bright angels
What begins as purposeless points
End up as beautiful curves....
Who draws the day and the night
He also puts darkness to flight...

Why love is often unrequited
Reminds us that love is God!
