Dark Eyes Poem by Michael Pendragon

Dark Eyes

Dark eyes embracing all the mysteries
Which lovers whisper in the depths of night
Gently expressing heartfelt fantasies
Suppressed by daytime's Soul-exposing light
In you, an endless flood of extasies
Engulf my captured, awe-enraptured sight
With formerly undreamt of reveries
'Til I am swept away by Love's delight

Now ev'ry secret buried 'neath the years
Each lost emotion, ev'ry stilled desire
Forgotten in the centuries of tears
Which washed away all traces of that fire
Once known to Old Verona reappears
Kindling a new flame, never to expire
Within my once cold breast 'til it reveres
Two ebon spheres it ever must admire

Dark eyes, I beg you ever to remain
Within the ken of him you mesmerize
And never abdicate your sovereign reign
For when we part all of Life's magic dies
Then, I must wait, until the moment when
My heart can touch the Soul it deifies
'Til I can hold you in my arms again
And lose myself, once more, in your
Dark eyes
