Daniel Poem by Graham Eccles

Daniel

You would have been my sunshine

For you I would have died

And ever since you went away

Night and day I’ve cried

Soon it would be your birthday

The presents you would have got!

But sometimes, things aren’t meant to be

Sadly, you were not

I know one day I’ll see you

I don’t know where you are

But ‘til the day I hold you

You are my brightest star

My Son, I still think of you

And I know that one day soon

In Heaven I will hold you

We’ll sit upon the Moon

An Angel never truly dies

Just spreads its wing and flies

This is what I will say

Until my dying day

Are you growing older?

Do you age as me?

Only time can tell

One day, my Son, I’ll see
