Damaged Wings Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Damaged Wings

Damaged wings
Above other things
An angel I found
Spreading love around
She repaired my wings to fly
Blown kisses so soft I cannot deny
Her arms tethered me to this very spot
Giving love and tenderness, making life so hot
She clipped my wings with her passion
I am lost without it, my daily ration
My heart captured to make a pair
I could not rise, go anywhere
Gave me hope when I felt so down
Cuddling me tightly in her white gown
Building up my self esteem
Really, she is a queen
She’s Purity
Tranquillity
Enticing
Exciting
Life has been with her
My freedom wings do begin to stir
Shall I spread them wide and be gone
Maybe just stay here and carry on
Hard decision to make
One I have to take
One more kiss
My heartbeat starts to miss
I cannot leave again
Fold back the wings of pain
Shackle them tight with love
We will stay together my angel from above
