Dalit Poem by Puspanjali Sahu

Dalit

It is noisy outside
I closed the door
Need a long sleep
May be only and only sleep
can give me
all what I need at this moment
Little peace

Closed my eyes
and tried to sleep
But could not
It's too dark inside

Lit the candle
But that also sheds tears of wax
Looked at it
and asked
Why being born as a dalit is so pathetic?

The candle smiled
and told
I born as wax
but chosen to be a candle
and would like to
embarce the darkness
without any ro'rui
Till dripped to death

I do not know
how
grief engraved in my blood
turned into smile

and
with dripping of wax
I felt an unearthly light
