Cruise Ship In The Night (For Lmrd) Poem by Ames Petrossi

Cruise Ship In The Night (For Lmrd)

I am tethered to your love
millions of tiny, fine jellyfish filaments
flow outward from my body
towards yours reaching,
in perpetual movement,
an ethereal ballet of
longing, desire, contentment.

I absorb your pain,
knives punching into your gut
wake me in the night,
doubled over, sweating
as you, at last, peacefully sleep.

I would gladly possess
everything
that causes you pain, loss,
sadness. If only to remain
in your tender grip
one day,
month,
year longer.

I am tethered to you, always
silent ship, beacon, granite landmark
amidst tumult and torment.
source of safety and strength
lifting me out of my darkest nights.
