Criss Cross Applesauce Poem by Guy Wild

Criss Cross Applesauce

Before we knew it
Criss cross applesauce
Had turned into
Pulling a seat up to the table
And filling out paperwork
The days became short
And the list of things we wanted to do became longer
Our imagination started to run dry
The swords we once wielded started to rust
And we saw them for what they really were
Sticks.
Why do we continue to drown ourselves in guilt?
Time doesn't change things instantaneously
We can't continue to live this way.
Just breathe.
Let your lungs dance with the air
Tell the person you love that you love them
And make the most out of everything
Because before you know it
You're alive and than you're
Dead
