Coronavirus Poem by Phyllis Strong

Coronavirus

Feeling stressed.
What to do?
Worry is creeping.
How long will I go through?
Job search is looking blue.
All the applications; and not one interview.

And then, here comes COVID-19;
Coronavirus.
A pandemic all around the world.
Everyone was affected by it in some way;
Every race, age group, gender, religion,
Rich, poor, middle class, those with degrees,
No degree, doctors, lawyers and first responders.

Our teachers, preachers, the famous,
Leaders, frontline workers, farmers,
Athletes, and nurses…everybody.

Some people who were infected with the Coronavirus
Made it through their sickness. (Thank God) .
However thousands (maybe millions) died.

My condolence to the families who lost loved ones.
With Social distancing there's no hugging at the funeral,
Not a lot of people can come (that makes your grieving worse) .
Sorry.

But now…now that the Coronavirus
Has put the world in a lockdown, a slowdown;
My stress is gone, I have no fear,
Worry is not creeping, I feel peace…
Peace like a river.

I'm one of the least of them.
I asked for help, asked to be mentored,
Asked your advice and knowledge.

God uses people to help people.
Somebody must not be listening to God.
Because I'm being ignored…
Like I'm nobody…a nothing.

The people I asked help from are now in a (life) storm
(Because of COVID-19) .

I was already in a (life) storm (before COVID-19) .
Will you see me now?
Can you feel me now?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In November 2019, I did not have a job. I felt like I was in the valley all by myself (going through with only God there for me) . I reached out to people, but I was ignored. The man that have successfully done what I want to do, his "people" said he was too busy to help me. But then the Coronavirus pandemic came…so how busy was he now, with the "Shelter-in-place" order?
