Confessions Of A Naturalist

I missed the sun on one fine day
and didn't go outside at all to stay
or walk about in my usual way
a discipline that good does pay;
to breath fresh air, bask in its light,
those simple things so clean and right.

Instead I was found to be seen
before a computer or TV screen
looking at either of them very keen
and at times past an addict been;
a modern disease of mankind
the like of which has made it blind.

Also those smart phones people use
are another way by which they abuse
their body and mind to thereby confuse
nature's laws which now don't enthuse;
enough it seems, of the right time
to lose their vigour and their prime.

There are other things which cause mope
and those we've come to name as being dope
which in one form or other suggest scope
but get people hooked without hope;
to find a cure for their disease
by nature's laws we're to appease.

To think of doing repentance
shouldn't be a case to serve a sentence
for actions done or seen at some instance
as crime-like without insistence;
unless there's been a conviction
due to breach of jurisdiction.

I must soon go and see the sun
to walk around outside and have some fun
as it doesn't make sense to miss its run
across the sky before it's done;
if for some reason this contends
I'll seek tomorrow with amends.
