Compromise Poem by Juan Olivarez

Compromise

Tomorrow I will stay,
In bed.
I'll skip breakfast,
Even the coffee.
I'll pass by.
I'll sleep till noon,
Or maybe six o'clock.
I'll close the drapes,
And keep the a.c. on high.
I won't even get up,
To watch,
The Rockford Files.
For me,
That's what you call,
A sacrifice.
But I owe it,
To myself.
I'll stay in bed,
Well,
Maybe till six am,
Thats a good,
Compromise.
