Complementary Colors Poem by Elizabeth Shield

Complementary Colors

I am the rays you are the shades
And in a twinkling verdant glade
Where dapples meet in echoed leaves
And patterns ripple 'neath the trees
Our edges crossed and we were one
You the moon and I the sun
What effervescence and delight
The moment that day met the night

All the green and growing things
Surrounding in the height of spring
Leaned down beneath that blessed hue
The colors made by I and you
Brought white and gentle flowered stars
And golden lions stretched afar
Pastoral all and picturesque
With us and the world now blessed
