Comets Poem by Jean Mallette

Comets

Rating: 5.0

Across the silent face of night,
Across the darkness of the deep,
Upon the wings of silver light,
The wandering stars of Heaven sweep.

Alone, they dart the realms of space;
Alone, they scan the starry scope;
In ceaseless search; in steady pace,
They blindly through the Heavens, grope.

Through blackest night, they scale the sky
To reach the shining orb of day,
Then up its flaming crest, they fly,
Majestic streams of silver spray.

Then down they speed, on round the sun,
On down the path the sunlight trails;
On deep into the dark they run,
Behind them soar their gleaming sails.

On through the vestal vaults of time;
On through the darkened depths of space;
On silent wings, the star birds climb
The bleak abysm's vacant face.

And evermore in ceaseless flight,
And evermore in endless quest,
They'll search the boundless realms of night,
Yet never find a place to rest!

Hi Jean. I like comets and have found them a good subject to write about, and you have given a very good insight to a comets existence on their relentless journey through the night sky. I enjoyed this one a lot. Thankyou Regards Dave T. **10** for sure.
