Come Live With Me & Be My Love. Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Come Live With Me & Be My Love.

Rating: 5.0

I perched
on the tree outside your window

pretending to be
a bird

but fooling no one.

At my all too
human song

you flung open
your casement

like a fairy princess

& invited me into
your Holy of Holies.

Tentatively I tiptoed
across the all too slight branch

crossing the threshold

as if a gentle giant
had let me step across his finger.

I entered
your room

entered
you

entered
into

the magic realm of
our love.

A real bird
had taken my place

on the giant’s green finger

singing
delightful madrigals

whilst we
lost

(in each other)

...smiled.

I held my breath as you tippy-toed cross that branch, just knowing that it would break under your weight, little Bird Man...and was glad that you successfully made it over!

Oh such a sweet poem...I can just see you as a 13st bird! Lovely little fairy story in itself and so...romantic. You could charm the birds off the trees! love Dee Dee
