Cold Poem by Penni Currie

Cold

permeating through my pores
freezing my soul
locked away
in the dazzling brilliance
of the Christmas lights.
is my heart beating?
oh so slowly
slowed to eternity
the Solstice fire
burned
oh so brightly
flickers, smoulders
deep in the ashes
of my life.
time to rebuild
rekindle, defrost
that frozen soul
deep within still burns a spark
fan it to a flame
slowly build around it
till once again
we have a roaring fire.

On Christmas eve I walked into the sea to try to kill myself. This was written in the following weeks as I tried to rebuild my life.
