Clad In The Iron Embrace Poem by Sven Rhoads

Clad In The Iron Embrace

I saw the tears stained on a pale white cheek
Couldn't speak of a future that became so bleak
Bent and twisted became the world I know
Simple as blood became it was all I could sow

I saw the blue of my every vein
Unrelenting devotion to bare the pain
Scorch by fire from my past life
Yet frozen still by the edge of this knife

Don't weep for me when I hold the thorns tonight
As I feel the chill clad in the iron embrace
Sitting in the darkness, I know to do what's right
But you can't remove the truth from my face

I've always been the joker that they tried to make a fool
And a warrior that has been facing the endless horde
No longer can I stand by and abide the two-faced rules
For the acceptance of wrong I've come to abhor

No innocence left to turn to sand
When the sky is raining diamonds
Wandering in the sulfur swamps
That the cowards all hide in
No turning back, that's not my way
I'm searching for new horizons
I'll turn your tears into crystals my love
Safe and secure is where you'll reside in
