Christmas Picture Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Christmas Picture

A lone crimson postbox came into view
touching my heart with its brilliant hue...
the top shone as pearl in the noonday glow
and a little red robin flew down through the snow,
perching there quietly in a cute kind of way
and chirping his prayer for Christmas Day.

Evening was nigh, silver blue was the sky;
snowy tinsel on leaves attracted my eye.
Gentle flakes formed a line crisp and neat,
nature's technique down an old-fashioned street.
The postal sign shone golden as never before
and the scene will stay with me evermore.
capturing my heart as in winters of yore.
