Christian Poem by Ted L Glines

Christian

Christian
by Ted L Glines

A Christian cannot be a hateful man
and call himself a Christian in my world,
not even if his Christian flag's unfurled,
his words will prove how evil is his plan
and I will cast him out and swiftly ban,
so fast he'll think his butt was crisped and curled,
just like the money-lenders Jesus hurled
and he'll be out the door where he began.

He said he had a right to freely speak
and spoke his racist insults here and there,
he sounded so self-righteous and aloof
and called himself a “Christian” - this I swear,
for he was strong and we were surely weak,
we wondered only - are you bullet-proof?

You need no bugles nor a drum and fife,
no racist hateful language causing strife,
you talk as Jesus talked,
and walk as Jesus walked
to wear the label “Christian” in my life.
