Changing Weather Affects Man Poem by Paul Sebastian

Changing Weather Affects Man

Scorching sun beats the skin
Sun-burning the daring, sun-bathing
Fierce sun sees wild weeds withering
Catchments water levels alarmingly falling

Car tires burn on blistering-hot tarred roads
Occasional forest fires under smacking sun
Purchases of mineral water in carton-loads
School kids carry liters of water in the hand

Dry spells bring along their woes
Sleepless nights under sweltering heat
Kept awake by blood-sucking mosquitoes
Body hugging, sweat-soaked shirts

Humidity makes comfort a misery
Weekends see families throng the beaches
Commuters by day end are weary
Ice-creams and iced drinks are kids’ wishes

It does not rain but pours
Lighting, cracking thunders follow
Angry winds lash with acid-downpour
Long jams everywhere as traffic slow
Swollen rivers overflow, flood
Roads, fields and humble homes
Destroy crops, belongings in loads
Food rushed to victims who moan

Delayed appointments, waiting dinners go cold
The stressed curse the unpredictable weather
Children get wet after school, catch a cold
The flu-bug outbreak rest many till they recover

Global warming and weather changes
Squarely blame man, economy-driven
Deforestation, pollution aroused earth’s rage
Its wrath is affecting man: He’s witnessing!

Would governments care for Mother Earth?
Would man’s greed destroy mankind?
Would United Nations’ power be of dearth?
Is man hastening the coming of world’s end?
