Change Poem by Maria Jose Cid Velazquez

Change

Please listen
I don't like changes
I like my life
why am I supposed to cry?

If I've got good health,
if I've got you here in my heart
what's this problem all about?

Is it that I'm far?
away from home?
how I wish I could cross those lines
called frontiers in a political map.

I want you here, I need you here
at least a hug or your voice very clear
I miss you a lot and I miss your lips
it's clear that distance is the main barrier.

Here it's cold
and everybody is always at work
people is used to say the word 'later'
consider it as a 'never'.

I hope you're okay
that's why I pray
you're my reason
to overcome this change.

Here, we're alone,
everyone gets a different stair
and it is harder as you try to go upstairs
but we must keep going on
because they become larger.

I truly want your shoulder
and wept until I know I'm safe
this is hard and my soul still has
a children heart that is suffering inside.
