Catch The Tigress Poem by Ceejon Ezinwoke

Catch The Tigress

Catch the tiger's tigress
Dinner is long overdue
The fire that nwizu made
Is burning out, oh no!

Now, the fishes are off the tray
And nowhere to be found
Grandmother has a naughty dog
Who limps from pot to pot

The children's stomach sing
The song that thunders sing
As wide as the Catholic lawn
Their mouths as they yawn

But the tiger is just so stingy
And won't let his wifey out
To grace grandmother's soup
But I think I have a plan

A tigress has four legs
So does a naughty dog
That limps from pot to pot
And eats the fishes off

So I grabbed an empty pot
And lured the naughty dog
To a place far from home
And lynched it like Lagos boys

I killed it like a thief of purse
Like a dog with no remorse
I painted him like a tigress
And straight to the fire place

Grandmother danced for joy
And called me her hero boy
This must be an old tigress
I can tell by her faded dress

She madeus Onugbo soup
And pounded us a yam
We ate as she told us stories
Of ancient warriors' glories

This tigress tastes unique
She hailed me once again
And don't forget I have a dog
Who's so very dear to me

He once fought a cobra snake
That crawled to end my life
And twice fought my assailants
They cut him and made him limp

I froze as she spoke those words
Dogs like Kuke are rare this days
She added as she picked up bones
Bones of her hero dear dog

Kuke! Kuke! ! Kuke! ! !
She called high and low
But Kuke will never answer
How I hate to be a Hero.
