Cage Match Poem by Patrick Tincher

Cage Match

My face is pressed against this unforgiving mat
Looks like I'm losing this round
Stepping into this cage was a bad idea
But how can I prove myself?
I fight no man other than myself
A false god created to fill a hole
Fists pound into my head
Knocking sense into my thick skull
Too bad the only way out is a fight to the death
I will not tap out
Surrender is not an option
My struggle is my own creation
Slowly surely I regain control of my life
Killing obscene thoughts
I scoff in the face of created demons
