But You Still Did... Poem by Madelene Calalo

But You Still Did...

Nonchalant to my mediocrity
A snobby persona perceived.
No doubt it is that I detest
The most hateful man
who ever has lived.

...you…

Egoistic stares I want to kill
Bring fury into my wistful eyes.
Worsening my strop for not
Getting my facade out
of your sight.

..Stop it.. I said…

..But then…
..You still did..........stare..

..Maddening…
Your grating tones deafen me
Desolating me more and more.
begged you to stay away from my somber life…
And end your needless discourse…
But no…

…You still did..
....bother....

…I left to find a room
for this eternal gloom..
this puzzling bitterness..(I attempt to hide)
which you tried to solve… (and saw behind my lies)

Crushing.. slow..
A sudden sound astonished me
Surprised to see you by the door
And coming closer to my reach
You found me lying restless on the floor.

I was... caught....
Taken once more by my agony
Never asked (never dared) for you to join me;
to accompany me through this melancholy
Never wished..

...Never wanted you to..

But nevertheless..
You still did....

Unexpected…..
To feel......(despite my hesitance)
You still did…
Try to heal…
