But The Smile Poem by Akhtar Jawad

But The Smile

Rating: 5.0

She saw a black and white photo,
and asked me,
"Don't I resemble my grandmother? "
"Yes you resemble.", I replied.
How could I tell,
the child lacked something,
the old photograph is of an ignorant teen aged girl
whose mental age was in accordance with her physical age
see her innocent face and a simple smile.
She didn't have television and internet,
she didn't have a cell phone even,
in fact a mini computer in her hands.
Your smile says
your mental age is twice of your physical age.
Good in one way but mostly bad.

There may be resemblance in outer appearance between a person of younger generation and a person of older generation but the values they cherished may tilt the balance in favour of the former. The present generation may be technically well off on certain parameters they falter. A complicated subject treated very thoughtfully. Thanks. your mental age is twice of your physical age. Good in one way but mostly bad.
