Bully Pulpit Poem by Ima Ryma

Bully Pulpit

'Bully pulpit' - the term was coined
By the Prez Teddy Roosevelt.
Power and persuasion joined.
Superb or 'bully' Teddy felt,
In using the White House prestige
To persuade strong his point of view,
By presenting noblesse oblige,
As any President should do.
Speak 'softly' - code word for damn right.
And also carry a big stick.
But on Entertainment Tonight?
Doing some reach out and touch schtick?

If Teddy R. were Prez today,
'Bully' would not be what he'd say.
