Broken (Shattered) Poem by Nicole Middendorf

Broken (Shattered)

When you told me that you loved me,
This soul had lost her mind.
When you told me I should always believe in you,
I gave you my willing trust and faith.
When you told me no one believes in me,
I knew you were right.
When you tell the world my imperfections,
I hide my old scars and prepare for the new.
When you tell me to be more like her,
I tear open inside.
When you tell me I'm fading,
You're right, but
When you tell me I don't matter anymore,
My world has finally shattered.
