Broken Love [2007] Poem by Catherine Beahl

Broken Love [2007]

When nights grow cold
And the crowed streets
Become quiet and still,
I stare up at the sparkling stars
And wonder about you.

Where are you?
Why isn’t your hand on my hip?

I tell my pleas
And I write my wrongs
As I wait for you
Under the old and gloomy
Willow tree in a deserted park.

Where are you?
Why can’t I look into your sapphire eyes?

You walk by…
With her.
She grips your hand tightly
And stares…
At this unblessed lover.

Where you now in life?
Why did you choose her over me?

Save me the last dance
Before the night turns
Into a morning gaze.
Let my heart race with love
When you say those simple words.

Save me that last romantic look
While I cry under
The withered mistletoe;
Turn my sorrow and pain
Into your long awaited kiss.

Hear the song
Sung by this unblessed lover
(That you once loved.)
