Broken Heart Poem by Melissa Koeman

Broken Heart

Rating: 4.0

Today the darkness sets in
My heart blackened
And broke in two
Who can save me from myself
Why am I so self destructive?
The pain came over me sharp as the sting of a knife
Give me some meds
To make me numb
To make me dumb
To save me from myself
The world threw me away today
And I’m standing here on the edge
With my broken heart
Screaming my guts out

To make me dumb Screaming my guts out - - - - - The two lines do not fit in there; the poem evolves well, like a part of an ancient tragedy. So the lines could be transformed to: To make me numb (twice, yes) Screaming my voice out (odd but better)

These are the universal words of heart break. Its a strange organ, the heart, unlike anything else, the more you break it, the stronger it gets. Great poem...
