Broken Daddy Poem by Phillip Alan Green

Broken Daddy

Broken Daddy, are you broken? My angel said to me,
Tears that flowed from my mask, as she sat upon my knee.

I'll fix you Daddy, I will I will, just you wait and see,
And these words formed a promise that she made to me,

A stranger on the outside, of someone else's life,
Looking in through the window, cuts me like the knife,

A door thats open to all others, but I know I can't go in,
At the laughter, like nothings' changed and wishing I was him.

I was so cold just like my coffee, the endless reasons why,
I sat in trance like state, just wishing I would die.

And after years have passed I'm thinking, mostly late at night,
Through distant cuddles smiles and dreams, maybe she was right.

Love held to her promise and ignored doubt in my head,
I'm strong and whole once again, she fixed me like she said.

See love keeps strong all promises and ignores the rules of time,
And I'm proud of my girl, Emma, proud that she is mine.
