Broken Cultural Bridges Poem by John Sensele

Broken Cultural Bridges

Decline to lie supine in mines where values die
In a plethora of insipidities that won't cry
When the present haunts vestiges gone extinct
Because you by default embarked on a path where your instinct

Grew into a paradigm shift
Whose alogirthmic gift
Threw spanners in the works
In tune with the idolatry that irks

The preservation of tenets
Swinging pricks of bayonets
Into the core of your culture
That chokes in mouths of the vulture

Your impulse accelerates
As its beak and talon at rates
So deleterious tear asunder
The culture you denigrate at the sound of the heathen thunder

You now worship
In the belly of the ship
Sailing to destination nowhere
Where you and your accomplices drink poison corrosion, derision and erosion everywhere

You turn
As impetuosity burns
Bridges you crossed to tap from the past
Mores and norms to the wind you've now cast.
