Bridge Poem by Cindy Rheeder

Bridge

Burn the bridge of uncertainty
Which we stand upon,
Me on the one side
You on the other
Maybe it’s just time to let it go
Maybe it was just never meant to be,
I’m not a vocalist
I hardly know how to speak
I push away the people that get a peak
Of how my brittle heart beats
So burn the bridge of uncertainty
Give your heart some space to grow
Cause maybe one day I might show
How my brittle heart beats
I’m not a vocalist
I’m as deaf as a bat
But I close my heart to what I feel
Cause I’m afraid to burn this bridge.
Burn the bridge of uncertainty
Which we stand upon
Me on the one side
You on the other
And I wish I could join you where you stand
But when it comes to my heart
I tend to smother
And push away the people who get a peak
At how my broken heart beats.
