Brainsucking Mara (In The Most Positive Way) Poem by Ana Ónimo

Brainsucking Mara (In The Most Positive Way)

Mara replaces my head
When my head is nowhere to be seen
And when the mist floods my eyes
She sees for me through it
She tells me when right is wrong
And when wrong is right
(Love to Mara, Ode to Mara! The Stars were born in your be-half
People try to be-half of what you are)
Sometimes it all seems a maze
I will be forever trapped in
But Mara makes me look up to the sky
And get lost between the lights
(I don’t think anyone understands how much I love the stars)
While she does all the brain process
Of carrying me around
And saying the right stuff in the right time
Mara can save my head
Mara can find the light
(But all procedures seem pointless when I'm staring at the stars)
When she leaves
It’s like a sad event
A funeral
Her pink ink fades out
And I’m left alone, alone with my head
Climbing its way through the sky
