Both Categories

Some people think John Ashbery is
one of the greatest poets in
the world. Other people don't
understand his work at all.
I count myself in both categories.

When I know the most is when I don't.
I require affirmation from my son.
Simply put, I don't understand much
of his work either but he just told me
he likes a particular poem of mine
that may be more than a little bit
like some of his, and such a meeting
in the middle launches me once and
again to write something of which
I really have no idea at all
but that, in its process and his
is
all I ever really will
want or require to continue writing
for myself, an audience, or not.
